Hiking

Füssen Tourismus can arrange experienced hiking guides for exciting hikes which are also suitable for groups:

  • Half-day hikes with a leisurely rest in an original Alpine chalet in the surroundings
  • Shorter hikes which include a visit to an Allgäu cheesery or a local brewery (with beer tasting)
  • Evening and torchlight hikes, for example, through the idyllic Faulenbach Valley or around the lakes of Weissensee or Hopfensee (with a stop at a pub if desired)
  • Half- or one-day flower hikes to the most beautiful areas for Alpine flowers in the Ammergau, Tannheim, Lech Valley and Allgäu Alps (June to September)
  • Half-day botanical hikes in the Schorenmoos (marshland) south of Hopfensee (May to October)
  • Half-day hikes to the Allgäu’s greatest castle ruins, Hohenfreyberg and Eisenberg, with a visit to the Castle Museum in Zell.

In some cases, the hikes can be combined with an ascent by cable car. The costs of the hiking guides depend on the duration and route of the hike. Please contact Füssen Tourismus as early as possible and let us inform you about dates and advise you on the necessary gear.

Hiking in King Ludwig’s tracks

A hike for those who know how to enjoy themselves which takes you through the King’s Nook, where Ludwig II spent a large part of his childhood and youth. The route takes in the area of the towns of Füssen and Hohenschwangau and touches on all those places that had special significance for the Bavarian royal family.

Duration: about 3 – 4 hours (the time for stopping for a drink or food or for going into the castles has to be added)

The price per hiking guide:

  • 20,00 € per hour German
  • 25,00 € per hour English
  • 19 % VAT has to be added to these prices

This hike can be combined with a visit to Hohenschwangau Castle and/or Neuschwanstein Castle or with a detour to “Bleckenau”, the royal hunting lodge (today a mountain restaurant), turning it into a whole day program. Because the mountain huts are well booked up throughout the year we recommend you to arrange the dates as early as possible with Füssen Tourismus to avoid disappointment...
